He congratulated Sir Macdonald Ebere for the landslide victories of the party in the state, revealing that his sagacity, ingenuity, grounded political knowledge and humble personality, all contributed greatly to his success story. He urged him to continue in his quality and productive leadership.

The group pledged its unwavering support and allegiance to the leadership of the trio, expressing hope in their ability to lead Imo to progressive wheels in their individual capacities.

COALITION OF INTEREST GROUPS IN AGWA CONDEMN BLATANT MARGINALIZATION OF AGWA CLAN IN OGUTA APC CHAIRMANSHIP PRIMARIES

The Agwa Professionals League in Coalition with Agwa Women Liberation Movement, National Council of Agwa Youths and Agwa Artisans' Association have expressed outrage over the undeniable marginalization of the Agwa Clan in the recently concluded APC chairmanship primaries for Oguta LGA.

Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, Engr Ibe Ben Ibe decried the exclusion of Agwa, which stands as the second-largest clan in Imo State, the most populous clan in Oguta LGA, and one of the state's major oil-producing communities, adding that despite Agwa’s immense contributions to the APC through decisive electoral support and substantial financial backing, the clan has been sidelined in a process that reeks of injustice.

The spokesperson revealed that multiple appeals were made to His Excellency, Distinguished Sen. Hope Uzodimma (Onwa Oyoko), by the leadership of Agwa Central Union (ACU) and other Agwa leaders of thought, urging him to uphold the long-established zoning arrangement in Oguta LGA by allowing the chairmanship position to rotate to Agwa Clan in Oguta South and address the blatant marginalization of the Agwa Clan. Instead, the party has brazenly discarded this principle, leaving Agwa to bear the brunt of this calculated injustice, which threatens the balance of political equity in the LGA.

He expressed sadness in the violation of zoning tradition in Oguta LGA, stressing that for years, Oguta LGA has adhered to a principle of rotating key political offices, including that of Executive Chairman and House of Assembly representation, between the Oguta North and Oguta South blocs, but the results of the recent primaries have upended this tradition, disenfranchising the Oguta South bloc, and more pointedly, the Agwa Clan.

The Coalition expressed shock at the total disregard for qualified Agwa Aspirants, saying that despite the caliber of candidates from Agwa Clan—including Comr. Deacon Johnbosco Chimaokwu Obodo, Esq. (JP), Hon. Chima Oscar Ukemezie (JP), Hon. Collins Ugo Jumbo, Hon. Williams Ejiakor, and Engr. Jerry Iriaka—the party overlooked their formidable credentials and chose a candidate from Oguta Amaeshi in Oguta North, where the current House of Assembly member also hails from.

They call on the Governor, as the leader of the party, to rectify this egregious imbalance by appointing  the very qualified aspirants from Agwa Clan to positions of authority. This is not just a demand for fairness; it is a plea for justice, to alleviate the profound sense of exclusion and marginalization currently felt across the entire Agwa Clan.

The Coalition reaffirms its commitment to the unity and progress of Oguta LGA but stresses that this can only be sustained through equitable representation. Anything less is a direct affront to the democratic principles that underpin our collective progress the spokesperson said.

They therefore, passionately appeal to our Governor and other leaders of the party to address the glaring marginalization of the Agwa Clan by making provisions for the basic social amenities that have long eluded the Clan and appointing some most qualified Chairmanship Aspirants of Agwa extraction into positions of authority to assuage the excruciating pains and anger the people are currently experiencing.

It is worthy to note that Oguta North comprises the following wards:

ACHI FAULTS FUEL HIKE

...Says FG worsening plights of Nigerians

Renowned Activist cum politician Nnamdi Samson Achi has joined the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, Organised Private Sector, Civil Society Organizations and others to condemn recent hike in petrol prices, berating the federal government for inflicting further hardship on Nigerians.

According to him, fuel price under the Tinubu-administration says a lot about complete disregard to the wellbeing of the people and proves APC to be anti-people and unconcerned about the welfare of Nigerians.

He called on the federal government to order the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to rescind the price increase and take urgent steps to address myriads of economic, security and political challenges bedeviling the country.

Achi demanded immediate action from the government on economic reforms, food security, price of goods and services, adding that mortality rate is alarming in the nation.

The Orlu born youthful leader reinstated that Nigerians cannot bear the worsening effect of high cost of petrol amid suffocating economic hardship, he insists that lives of Nigerians matter and must be preserved by improving the economy at all cost.

LP QUESTIONS CELEBRATION OF VICTORY BY APC CHIEFTAINS, GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS OVER YET TO BE DELIVERED SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT

...Suspects Compromise

Imo State Labour Party has questioned the celebration of victory all over social media platforms by All Progressives Party (APC) chieftains and government officials over the yet to be delivered supreme court Judgement on the November 11th Imo State Governorship election, describing it as mischievous, provocative and preemptive.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the state chairman of the party, Barr. Calistus Ihejiagwa on the 22nd of August 2024.

The statement reads in full:

"The attention of the Labour Party has been drawn to the ongoing celebration by APC chieftains and government officials including a serving Senator on various social media platforms wherein they mischievously purport that the Supreme Court has dismissed our Appeal before it, challenging the unlawful and unjustified declaration of Hope Uzodinma as winner of the November 11th Imo State Governorship election.

"This claim is false, ridiculous, preemptive, mischievous, misleading and provocative as the Supreme Court is yet to deliver judgment in our said Appeal. As a matter of fact around 5pm today our lead Council received Official Notice from the Supreme Court Registry that judgment in our Appeal will be delivered tomorrow Friday 23rd August, 2024 hours after APC faithfuls have started celebrating their purported victory.

"The only possible explanation to this preemptive celebration of yet to be delivered judgment could be that APC and Hope Uzodinma may have compromised, procured and read the judgment ahead of its delivery tomorrow and unfortunately some of their people could not hide their excitement and wait for the judgement to be delivered tomorrow.

"By this act, APC has further ridiculed our judiciary and brought the Supreme to disrepute. They have undermined the integrity of our very revered Apex Court and have made tomorrow’s judgment a suspect.

"We are aware that APC and Hope Uzodinma are so desperate and can do anything to retain the mandate of the good people of Imo State which they shamelessly stole.

Notwithstanding the above, our great Party wishes to reinstate our confidence in the judiciary. We are still very optimistic that the Supreme Court will tomorrow use the Golden opportunity of our Party’s Appeal to right the obvious wrongs and injustice done to the good people of Imo State on the 14th January 2020.

"We hereby respectfully tell Hope Uzodinma and his APC people that their time is up. Injustice does not last forever. We hereby advice them to use this night to pack their bags and luggage away from the Government House because by the special grace of God Hope Uzodinma will leave the same way he came, through the Supreme Court.

"We call on Imolites and all men of goodwill across Nigeria to remain in prayers so that evil will not triumph over evil tomorrow.

"We also call on the Security agencies to be extra vigilant and on red alert as there is rumor in town that APC people will massively loot government house and other government offices tonight knowing that their illegal government will come to an end tomorrow".

MBAITOLI APC PRIMARY ELECTIONS: Mbieri Stakeholders Reject Akuchie's Candidature

...Moves Motion To Make Ezebuihe Apex Leader
as Uche Nwole gives reasons...

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress Primaries for Local Government Council Elections in Imo state, Mbieri Stakeholders in Mbaitoli LGA have unanimously rejected Fidelis Akuchie and moved a motion to make Chief Princewill Ezewuihe (BABA ALI) the Apex Leader of the party.

They declared this yesterday 9th August, 2024 during the Mbieri Stakeholders' Meeting held in Villa Surive Hotel Owerri, where critical issues bothering Mbieri Clan's chances of clinching the Mbaitoli Council seat were deliberated.

Speaking at the occasion, Prince Kelechi Ngumezi (Oracle) expressed utmost disappointment at the leadership of the Mbieri Clan, saying that the leaders have failed the people by not initially producing a consensus candidate to contest in the primaries alongside other candidates from other clans instead of allowing eleven aspirants to buy forms from a particular clan.

He vehemently condemned the projection of Fidelis Akuchie, a former factional President General in Mbieri, by the Apex Leader, Chief Marcon Nlemigbo who was also a former Imo State APC Chairman, stating that a leader of such standing ought not to have any candidate, instead should be neutral and work for the interest of the party.

He insisted that an Apex Leader is supposed to protect the interest of other aspirants who are more competent, qualified, and prepared to occupy the chairmanship position of Mbaitoli LGA.

For peace to rain in Mbieri, he suggested that Chief Marcon must be called to order and advised to step Fidelis Akuchie down, then a proper meeting should be conducted amongst the candidates to choose one aspirant who can represent Mbieri Clan in the forthcoming primaries.

Ngumezi further moved a motion seeking for the appointment of Chief Princewill Ezewuihe (BABA ALI) as the Apex leader of the party in Mbieri Clan.

His suggestions were followed by widespread accolades and acceptance by the stakeholders who took turns to air their views which pointed towards the same direction, condemning the imposition of Akuchie against the will of Ndi Mbieri.

Hon. Uche Nwole, a former Rep Member for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency used the opportunity to clarify his reasons for purchasing the chairmanship form, revealing that his choice aspirants were rejected by the Clan's  leadership without genuine reasons and instead, the Apex leader chose to project a candidate who is not competent, reliable and had initially destroyed the unity of Mbieri.

He stated that he has always had the interest of the Mbaitoli people at heart, hence has invested massively in the LGA with his resources and also leveraged on his position as a former Rep. Member to attract laudable projects for the people of Mbaitoli.

He maintained that it will be unreasonable and unfair not to contest to serve his people, going by his wealth of knowledge and experience in leadership, and allow an unqualified candidate who has destroyed the oneness and  Peace of Mbeiri to occupy the  the position.

However, he stated that since many aspirants have purchased the form,  it will be fair to use a ballot system to choose a consensus aspirant for the Mbieri people, adding that it will be difficult for someone to drop his ambition when he must have spent a lot of money.

Many critical stakeholders and reputable Mbeiri clan leaders graced the occasion, including Prof. Chinedu Anosike (CONA), President General of MbIERI, Chief Ugonna Achuko, former Development Coordinator for Mbaitoli East, Chief Martin Onyeugo, Chief Kelechi Obi, the acting chairman, APC Mbaitolu LGA,Mbaitoli APC Woman Leader, the three APC  ward chairmen from Mbieri Clan amongst others.

Massive Youth Empowerment, Infrastructural Development, Agricultural Revolution Shall Be My Legacy as Oguta LGA Chairman - Obodo

Comrade Deacon Johnbosco Chimaokwu Obodo Esq, is a constitutional lawyer, a reputable public servant, a realtor, a unique politician and an aspirant for the Oguta Local Government Area Chairmanship seat.

The illustrious son of Agwa in Oguta LGA has been privileged to hold key positions in different local government areas, served in different capacities in the church and has been a highly revered community leader who has occupied many positions in his community and is currently serving as the Secretary General of the renowned Agwa Clan worldwide.

In this exclusive interview with Reality News, Barr. Obodo elaborately discussed his ambition to chair the Oguta LGA council, his vision and agenda for the Oguta people, what he desires to do differently using the leadership position, amongst other important issues.

Excerpts:

Question:

Why are you in the race for Oguta LGA Chairmanship seat?

Answer:

I want to replicate the good legacies of our dear governor, distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma who has come to introduce infrastructural revolution in Imo state. As you can see, some of the roads people think were not possible to be reconstructed are today the best of the roads in the state, for instance, the Owerri to Orlu road, Owerri to okigwe road, Owerri to mbaise, to obowo road and MCC road. Some of these roads are long in terms of kilometres and I know some past governors dared to embark on such road projects but saw them as gigantic projects. Sometimes we see these roads as federal government project but our governor has come to break the jinx of backwardness in terms of infrastructural development.

He is the torchbearer and I wish to replicate the good works he is doing in my LGA. It is youth o'clock but it is not just about being a youth. It is about a youth making an unprecedented difference. Some people believe that the youths are only good to be used as political thugs and the likes, but I want to prove that when you give the mantle of leadership to a youth that is intellectually sound with an impeccable track record of achievement, he will produce excellent results.

Question:

What are your agenda for Oguta LGA?

Answer:

I have a lot of things I want to do for my Local Government Area ranging from infrastructural development, agricultural revolution, youth empowerment, educational and health reforms, security, power supply and the rest. I wish to elaborate further.

Infrastructural development:

The council headquarters of Oguta LGA is nothing to write home about. We don't have a good legislative building and conducive office spaces where our councillors can carry out their legislative businesses. Within my first 100 years in office, I will ensure that the council has a conducive environment to conduct legislative affairs.

The hall we have in our council headquarters was built by our late political leader and the first executive chairman of Oguta LGA, Hon. Nze Eugene Obiamadi in 1993. There is no other hall there now that is commodious enough to accommodate a large number of people. I want to replicate what the governor is doing in Imo International Convention Center (IICC) Owerri, in Oguta as well so that our people will have a very conducive place to gather for programs and events. We have some abandoned projects littered at the council headquarters. I have gone there with my team to inspect some of the projects embarked upon by the former administration which are nearing completion in some councils but in my council the building projects have been abandoned. We will take up the projects and finish them, then provide more office spaces for the staff and management. There is scarcity of good office spaces at the headquarters currently.  The chairman's office does not befit the office of the chairman of an oil producing LGA. We will pull out the office of the chairman from where it is now and give the chairman a very conducive office that will have a state of the art equipment and facilities. It will also have a conference room where the chairman can conduct certain meetings and briefings instead of using his office for meetings. I will do this within my first 100 days of being in office. We will change the landscape of that place and design it in such a way that everyone will know that it is a government premises.

The council headquarters is not fenced at the moment, thereby giving room for encroachments. We will fence it and ensure that infiltrators stop encroaching on the land.

There are some customary courts in Oguta LGA that are not in good conditions. We want to reform the judiciary system and make it suitable.

Agricultural Revolution:

Local government is the government that is nearest to the people. We want to bring evidence of democracy to the people. We will change the agricultural system in Oguta. Most of the communities in Oguta LGA are feeding from agriculture as peasant farmers. We will introduce technology in their agricultural business so that it will be attractive to the youths. We will change the six years shifting cultivation arrangements. We will change the overall system of agriculture to ensure food security. We have large portion of land but the system of agriculture does not motivate large production of food. Our people go to Benue and some other places to buy food when we can confidently and conveniently produce food in large quantities. I shall invest in agriculture and ensure massive food production and security in the LGA.

Education:

We want to introduce technical colleges in some places in Oguta LGA so that by the time one is through with secondary education, that person must have acquired knowledge and skills that can help him or her to be self reliant. If the person doesn't have the economic capacity to further his or her education, the person can work to get some money. Gone are the days when youths carry certificates about seeking for employments.

Youth Empowerment:

We want to bring modern skill acquisition centers in Oguta where some of our restive youths can be equipped, rehabilitated, empowered and trained with the modern techniques now, so they can be relevant to the labour market. Instead of waiting to be employed or given money, they can generate income by themselves.

Empowerment is not just about giving people sewing machine or clippers for barbing salons, it is about equipping them with diverse skills that are  obtainable now, so that they can be sought after. The world has gone digital. We need to train the youths inline with the modern trends of the present day. We shall give them digital skills that can enable them work anywhere with their smart phones. Website designing, content creation and the rest are very lucrative skills that they can use and make money even from the comfort of their homes. Many youths have smartphones which they can use to make money and not just surfing the internet without any resourceful gain.

Power Supply:

We are happy that our governor has instituted the Orashi electricity Regulatory Commission in Imo state and the commission is empowered to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in every part of the state. We have to contribute our quota to make sure that some communities that do not have electricity supply now can be connected to the national grid. We have some communities in Oguta that have not seen light for the first time in their lives. We want to change that so that the children that are coming from those areas can feel the touch of an impactful administration and be happy that they can have regular power supply without going to urban areas.

Security:

We intend to collaborate with the traditional rulers and presidents general of Oguta communities to ensure that we embark on community based policing in collaboration with our governor who has already set up the ministry of home land security. We will collaborate with that ministry to ensure that what our governor is doing in the state can be done at the rural areas so that there will be effective policing.

Health Sector:

Health is one of the biggest investments we have to make because as at now most rural dwellers do not understand what it means to access modern health facilities. They go and patronise quack maternity homes and sometimes in the course of doing that they may lose their lives. We want to change that narrative by bringing qualified medical personnel to our rural areas and make sure we provide some of the facilities our hospitals are lacking and then sensitize the communities on the importance of accessing these medical provisions. We will give them orientation on the need to visit hospitals instead of going to quacks where cases of emergency can result to regretful ends.

Question:

Do you think you are the best candidate for Oguta chairmanship position?

Answer:

By the grace of God, I am the most experienced amongst the contestants having been a staff of local government for years and having known the workings of the system. I think from my years of public service and my knowledge as a legal practitioner, I have garnered the experience to set the ball rolling immediately without going through the principle of learning the process afresh. Without exaggerations, I am the only candidate that do not have any scandal or ugly records and that is why the youths are rooting for me. They feel I have an impeccable character and the wherewithal to deliver even within the shortest period of time. I think I am the best because I am a home boy. I grew up here. I know the feelings of the people. I understand their pulse. I have not been away from Imo state since I was born. I travel and come back but I am resident here. I understand the system here and as such I am the best candidate that can bring the needed solution.

Question:

What do you have to say to Oguta people ahead of the elections?

Answer:

I am seeking for the support of our leaders. Oguta LGA has never been in short supply of high profile political leaders in the history of Imo State. I am seeking the support of our political leaders, highly revered royal fathers, clergy men and party faithfuls. Let them bless me, guide me and then watch me to see that I shall never disappoint them.

I am seeking the support of our youths, our men, our women, the progressives and every patriotic Oguta indigene who yearn for good governance so that in the end they themselves and ultimately our governor will be proud that such a choice was made to change the ugly narratives.

The chairman gave detailed account of the registration and revalidation exercise that the party has embarked on, revealing that so far the party has about fifteen thousand registered and revalidated members of the party in Imo state, expressing hope that the numerical strength will enormously increase before the conclusion of the exercise.

The National Youth Leader of the party, Prince Kennedy Ahanaotu who represented the National President Barr. Julius Abure thanked the Stakeholders for converging to discuss strategies of advancing the party. ACHI ADVOCATES FOR DEVELOPMENT IN ORLU

ACHI ADVOCATES FOR DEVELOPMENT IN ORLU

Human Rights Activist cum Politician,  Comrade Nnamdi Samson Achi has advocated for developments in Orlu, expressing concern at the poor level of infrastructural development in the zone that has produced more governors in the state.

In an interactive session with journalists recently, the Social Crusader stated that Orlu's years in power does not reflect the level of development in infrastructure, education, social amenities etc, in the zone, as such Orlu People are not enjoying dividends of democracy.

He condemned the fact that all the Federal Government projects in the state are situated in Owerri, including the four tertiary institutions ( Federal University of Technology Owerri, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Federal College Of Land Resources Technology, Federal Polytechnic Nekede) the Federal Medical Center and newly proposed FUTO Teaching Hospital.

According to him, in the entire Orlu zone, one cannot find thirty kilometers of roads that are in good condition, despite having produced governors more than other zones in the state. Infrastructures, he said, are mainly situated in Owerri zone, even the newly dualized Owerri-Orlu road leads to Orlu from Owerri but has 65% of it situated in Owerri zone.

He stated that there is a frightening level of poverty and hardship in the zone as a result of bad roads, insecurity and poor level of developments, which have  collapsed the economy of the zone and driven investors far away from Orlu and its environs.

His words " Ndi Orlu wants to see the impact of having Orlu son in power. Developments should not be limited to the capital city. We are desirous of Federal presence in Orlu. We want to enjoy good road networks in Orlu. We want factories and industries in Orlu. We want to have constant power supply in orlu. We want our businesses to thrive. We want to live without fear in Orlu. We want to breath the air of power."

He therefore urged Gov. Hope Uzodinma to utilize his second tenure in office to develop his zone and leave a standing legacy as a true son of the soil who worked for his people as supposed, to bring a positive turnaround in the zone.

PRESIDENT TINUBU DIRECTS CIVIL SERVANTS WHO RELOCATED ABROAD TO REFUND SALARIES

PRESIDENT TINUBU DIRECTS CIVIL SERVANTS WHO RELOCATED ABROAD TO REFUND SALARIES

President Bola Tinubu has ordered  Nigerian civil servants who have relocated abroad yet are receiving salaries from the federal government without appropriately resigning, to refund the money they have defrauded.

He gave the directive at the Award and Gala Night of the 2024 Civil Service Week in Abuja where he was represented by the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume.

He revealed that during his recent visit to South Africa, he was disturbed to find out from the week's activities about the revelations made by the head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, about employees who had relocated abroad and are still collecting salaries without formally resigning.

He stated that even though he heard that  measures had been taken to address the issue, those responsible must be held accountable and restitution must be made.

“The culprits must be made to refund the money they have fraudulently collected. Their supervisors and department heads must also be punished for aiding and abetting the fraud under their watch.

“The Nigerian Civil Service cannot just be a workplace where ‘anything is possible, ‘where workers violate rules without the fear of punishment or repercussion. The civil service of any nation is too important for such misconduct to take root or be tolerated.“

"The civil service is the bedrock, the engine, the locomotive of government, which is necessary for the government to deliver public goods to citizens. As politicians, we are no more than drivers of the locomotives you provide,” he said.

CONCERNED IMO INDIGENES ORGANIZATION FAULTS LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENTS IN IMO

CONCERNED IMO INDIGENES ORGANIZATION FAULTS LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENTS IN IMO

demands evidence of allocations, revenues on infrastructures

Urges Gov. Uzodinma To Address Issues

By Dorcas Samson Achi

Concerned Imo Indigenes Organization (CIIO), a non-governmental organization, comprising of credible stakeholders, successful entrepreneurs and seasoned administrators cutting across the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo state, who are saddled with the responsibility of advocating for good governance, rule of law, due process and leadership accountability, has faulted poor state of Imo infrastructure, with emphasis on the terrible condition of Imo roads.

The Convener of the Movement, Comrade Victor Osondu, a Human Rights Advocate and accomplished entrepreneur from Orlu LGA, while speaking with the press over the weekend, highlighted some of the challenges faced by Imolites and all those residing or running businesses in the state.

He revealed that many constituencies in Imo are in precarious situations; ranging from wants to deprivation, to insecurity, and overall socio-economic meltdown occasioned by lack of basic amenities and social services.

He further noted that many young entrepreneurs, small and medium size enterprises (SMES) in rural communities of the state have been run aground due to lack of power and poor infrastructural developments.

According to him, the executive governor of Imo State and every elected officer in the state should always remember that it is the democratic right of Imo citizens to enjoy good road networks, standard healthcare system, security and enabling environment where youths leverage on their collective expertise to conquer new frontiers and accomplish remarkable feats in business; while women contribute business ideas, knowledge and strategies for economic flow and men foster a cohesive environment where beneficial ideas flourish as they support one another and engage in meaningful interactions that proffer competitive economic growth and development.

To foster economic growth, financial prosperity and to enhance the living standard of Imo people, he urged Governor Hope Uzodinma to quickly address the deplorable state of Imo infrastructures.

He emphasized that the increments of monthly allocations from Federal Government to Imo State due to subsidy removal is not reflecting on the infrastructures of the state, citing the death traps on our roads, poor health facilities, uncondusive learning environment, lack of industry, factories and jobs.

He expressed concern on where the allocations and revenues of the state are channeled to amid negligence of sundry human based issues that require immediate attention.

However, Comr. Osondu commended the governor for his visible intervention on Orlu- Owerri road and Okigwe - Owerri road while also reminding him of the urgent need to reconstruct many terrible roads in many LGAs of the state and to ensure compulsory infrastructural developments to ease the stress witnessed by road users, business owners and indeed every individual in Imo.

Furthermore, the youthful Activist congratulated Imo National Assembly (NASS) Members on the completion of their one year in office and charged them to invest heavily in human capital development, youth empowerment, job creations, so as to proffer lasting solutions to youths' restiveness, social vices and all forms of criminality witnessed in the state.

He used the opportunity to call on all patriotic Imolites who are committed to fighting bad leadership, misrepresentation, maladministration in Imo to join Concerned Imo Indigenes Foundation (CIIF) on their efforts towards correcting and addressing leadership ills as Watchdogs of the society. To join the Foundation/Movement, call these numbers 08154004770 or  08067506541.

Imo Charter of Equity: Prof. Uzorma Makes Case For ISU Nation

says Marginalization Must Stop

By Dorcas Samson Achi

A renowned Human Rights Defender , University Don and Politician, Prof. Protus Nathan Uzorma has stated that Isu Clan in Orlu zone is marginalized, sidelined and in need of equity.

Prof. Uzorma revealed this during a press briefing on Monday 17th June, 2024 where he unequivocally condemned the uneven spread of power, elective positions and appointments, saying that Isu Clan, made up of Nwangele, Nkwerre, Njaba, Isu and half of Orlu LGA, is in need of equity, as it is the only clan in the state that has not produced a governor, deputy governor, senator, speaker, attorney general or secretary to the state government and has terrible roads and poor level of developments in the state.

He described the inequity in Orlu zone as a course for concern, adding that it is improper to say that power is in orlu when the largest clan is being neglected and shortchanged.

According to him, equity should not be narrowed to rotation of the governorship position alone, instead other important factors must be taken cognizance of, to ensure true equity.

He reinstated that Isu clan's need for equity, in terms of power, urban infrastructural developments, distribution of amenities/social services must be considered come 2027.

Prof Uzorma blamed political "lords" for Isu clan's inability to produce even a senator, adding that in Nigeria, power is given, not taken, because the masses' votes do not count. He demanded that power should be given to Isu Clan in the next political dispensation.

The Public Affairs Analyst emphasized that by 2027, power must be negotiated in Imo and Isu nation will determine who will be the next governor of the state. He  revealed that Isu clan is willing to negotiate with any Okigwe or Owerri zone credible governorship candidate who is ready to address the current state of infrastructure stock, injustice in the rotation of power and other developmental oriented facilities across the zones in a manner that allows for equitable growth in clans who are lagging on these indices.

He called on Stakeholders and Imolites in general to ensure that equity is properly applied in the rotation of power and distribution of amenities, social services, Federal government projects etc, for inequity to discontinue.
