August Meeting: Lady Mbagwu Charges Women To Become Assets To The World

Retired Director of Administration and Supplies at Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB) and a woman worker at the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, Lady Amaka Benedict Mbagwu has charged women to become assets to their families, the church, the communities and world at large.

Speaking on the success of the Ideato Women August Meeting, Lady Mbagwu stated that insecurity, lack of finance and fear of the unknown could not stop Ideato women from participating in the 2024 August Meeting with fellow Igbo woman because they understand the necessity of such indispensable gathering.

Lady Mbagwu who was the former president of the Women Wing of All Saints Anglican Church Akokwa revealed that the essence of August meeting is to foster grassroot developments in different communities and to reduce the sufferings of women and the less privileged in the rural areas. 

She started that August Meeting avers women the opportunity to reason together towards a common goal, adding that many community developmental projects being carried out by Ideato Women are usually deliberated upon during the August meetings such as the ongoing installation of bore hole by the women right inside All Saints Anglican church Akokwa which is targeted at dousing the sufferings of women and other rural dwellers.

She reiterated that as the Women Vice president of the six autonomous communities of Akokwa, she participated fully in the 2024 August Meeting where she encouraged her fellow women to be industrious, supportive and relevant in their homes by contributing to the economic growth of the family.

Her words, "Every woman should be skillful, productive and efficient. No man enjoys giving a woman money all the time especially in this economic situation. For a woman to be relevant even in the life of her children she must contribute. There must be something a woman is bringing to the table for her to be regarded as an asset. No woman should be a liability. There should be no dull moment for a virtuous woman. Every woman should think of how to generate income and contribute to the financial wellbeing of the family". 

Furthermore, Lady Mbagwu enjoined women to bring to bear their knowledge, expertise and experience into the growth of the church and their respective communities, adding that women should participate in politics and seek for political appointive and elective position because they have the abilities to excel in leadership positions at every level.
