Renowned Activist cum Politician, Comrade Nnamdi Samson Achi has described Nigeria as a country that lacks direction going by its very poor level of development and visible leadership failures at 64.
The Orlu Born youthful leader who is the Assistant State Secretary of Labour Party, Imo State expressed absolute disappointment that the age of Nigeria does not commensurate with its level of development, saying that presently no sector in the country is functioning effectively and there is no direction or process that gives hope of better days ahead to the citizens.
According to him, the healthcare system, educational level, economic situation, threatening security challenges, corruption rate, poverty level and poor infrastructural developments are proves that Nigeria lacks definite direction at 64.
He expressed disappointment that at 64, Nigeria is still struggling to address hunger, poverty, food insufficiency, infrastructural decay and power failures amid her natural richness and heavy endowments in mineral resources.
He attributed Nigeria's deplorable state to blatant failures of political leaders whom he described as selfish, vision less, greedy and insensitive to the plights of the masses, adding that it is surprising how Nigerian politicians enjoy good health care systems abroad, send their wards abroad to access quality education yet find it impossible to use their positions and the wealth of the nation to make Nigeria a better place where other countries can desire to come.
Achi demands to see a reason to celebrate the 64th independence of Nigeria when there is toxic economic environment, no production and productivity, when materials used in our industries are imported, when the current price of fuel has resulted to overwhelming inflation and when there is no development at the grassroot level due to lack of absolute LGA autonomy.
He emphasized that Nigeria's 64th independence calls for sober reflection on what should be done to urgently stop the pauperization of the Nigerian citizens, the bedeviling insecurity realities, the alarming unemployment rate, increasing corruption in every sector and every challenge that is sponsoring leadership lapses.
